9. Other Matters
9.1 Validity of Grades: All lab grades (online or face to face) after Fall’03 are valid except Spring and Summer 2020.
a- The very last lab grade of the student is valid. If the student has failed the lab on his/her last attempt, he/she must repeat it.
b- There is no time or repeat limit for the validity of the grades after Fall’03. (except Spring and Summer 2020 semester grades).
c- Spring 2000 and Summer 2020 semester grades are no longer valid.
d- If the student number has changed for any reason, the old lab grade is valid ONLY IF the student notifies the lab coordinators at the beginning of the semester.
e- The student must notify the lab coordinators each time he/she takes a PHYS course with a lab.
f- Starting from Spring 2023 Semester, if a student got the minimum pass grade for a lab course, lab grade for that course becomes permenant and no repetition is possible for any reason.
9.2 Excuses - Makeups: There is no make up for missed labs unless one of the folllowing conditons is present:
a- If the student is officially charged for a duty by the university
b- If the student has an exam of another course, given at the same hour.
c- If the student has an official appointment, in a court, police station, consulate etc. Health issues and doctor appointments are not considered in this category unless they are vital.
d- If one of the above conditions is present the student must inform the lab coordinators via email at least one week before the experiment or applied exam and attach a copy of the relevant document as proof.
e- The student can take the experiment or applied exam only in the assigned session at the specified time and classroom. They must also bring the supporting document and submit it to the lab instructor along with the post-lab report or exam sheet attached to it.
f - A student who attends a makeup session without permission or in a different section than assigned (unless it is given permission to do so) will have their participation invalidated and receive a zero.
g- The student can only make up for the missed lab or applied exam during the same experiment period. Except summer term this period is only one week. Each week the experiments are changed. In the summer term this period is just for 1 or 2 days.
h- Make ups are only performed at the same week. If there is any situation that prevents the student to make up the experiment at that week, he/she must inform the lab coordinators beforehand. Then, the case would be considered separately by the lab commitie.
