2. PHYL and PHYS courses

2.1 Course Names: PHYL course is a fake course name that will not be present on the transcripts of the students.

     a- Students do not register to it in the normal registration period.

     b- Students will be automatically registered to corresponding PHYL course below (i.e. to the Lab) by the system just after add/drop period unless the student have passed it before:

PHYS 101 / PHYS 121  à  PHYL 101

PHYS 102 / PHYS 130  à  PHYL 102

PHYS 201                       à  PHYL 201

PHYS 202                       à  PHYL 202

2.2 Registration: The PHYL course will not be present on the registration system, the student shall check his/her registration on Lab Website after the add drop period ends. 

     a- If the student repeats any of PHYS courses above, he/she should check his/her very last lab grade for the corresponding PHYL course mentioned at article 2.1b.

     b- Students need to pass the relevant PHYL course in order to pass the main PHYS course.

     c- If the very last PHYL grade of the student is F or it does not exist, then the he/she shall check on Lab Website that he/she has been registered for the PHYL course.

     d- If the very last lab grade of the student is at least the minimum pass grade (given at grading section) or more, his/her very last lab grade will be used.

     Effective from 2023 Spring semester,

     e-If the students have already passed the lab, they do not and cannot repeat it for any reason. 

     f- Once your lab grade for the course is minimum pass grade or higher, it cannot be changed by any means. 

2.3 Change of Student Number: If the student number has changed for any reason, the student hall send an e-mail to physlab@bogazici.edu.tr with his/her old and new student numbers before the Section Objection Date.

     a- Full name and the relevant PHYL course is to be indicated.

     b- Each time the student takes a PHYS course with a lab, he/she shall notify the physlab@bogazici.edu.tr in the way explained above. 

2.4 Withdraws: If the main course is withdrawn, the student may continue the lab.

     a- Despite the withdrawal, if the student passes the lab, his/her lab grade will be valid when he/she repeat the main course

     b- Despite the withdrawal, if the student passes the lab, he/she will not be allowed to repeat the Lab.
