Lab Room Rules
5. Lab Room Rules:
5.1 Lab Tables and Devices: Labs are performed on lab tables and using the devices on them.
a- Each table can host two students at most. Lab tables of the students and lab partners will be determined by the Lab instructor.
b- Students cannot switch tables or partners among themselves. They will conduct each experiment at the same table unless changed by the Lab Instructor.
c- Students are required to write their table numbers (and other requested info on the sheet) in the post-lab report.
d- Students are responsible for leaving the devices on their tables or any entrusted equipment outside their tables in the same condition as they found them when leaving the lab. Except for wear and tear due to regular use, students are liable for any damage caused to the equipment.
e- If necessary, the Lab Instructor may lend certain devices or experiment setup components to students in exchange for their ID.
f- Students are responsible for following the safety instructions in the lab manual, lab sheets, those written on the board, or those explained by the Lab Instructor while using experiment tables and setups. Students are liable for any harm caused to themselves or others due to noncompliance with these instructions.
5.2 Lab Materials: The fundamental lab materials are the Lab Sheet which consists of Lab Report and Post-Lab Report. The supplemantary materials are Lab Books and Lab Presentations given on the website.
a- Students shall download and print the Lab Sheet, which includes the lab report and post-lab report, from the website.
b- Students shall bring a blank copy of the relevant sheet for each experiment. Students without the Lab Sheet cannot participate in the lab and will receive a zero for that session.
c- Students must fill out the lab sheet themselves by performing the experiment. The collected data and analysis must belong to the experiment they personally conducted. If any violation is detected, the lab instructor has the right to deny participation approval and not grant participation points.
d - Students must submit the post-lab report, which is the last page of the lab sheet, to the lab instructor at the end of the experiment. The lab report may remain with the student. A student who does not submit the post-lab report will be considered absent from the experiment and will not receive participation points.
e- Lab presentations and Lab Books are important when performing experiments, yet they are not mandatory to bring to the lab. However the students are responsible from all of their content in Applied Exams and in Lab Exam.
5.3 Participation to Labs: Attendance in experiments is not mandatory. However, students will receive participation points for each experiment only if their participation is approved by the Lab Instructor.
a- The first 30 minutes of each experiment are dedicated to the Lab Instructor’s explanation of the experiment, devices, and theoretical background. The rest is left to students to perform the experiment themselves.
b- Students may join the lab within the first 30 minutes. After this period, late students will not be allowed in, will be marked as absent for that experiment, and will receive no participation points.
c- Students who do not meet the conditions stated in Article 9.2 will not be granted an excuse or a makeup if they arrive late to the lab. They will not receive participation points for the missed experiment.
